About this blog

Bare Metal Labs makes software products. This blog is where we explain how our products are built, with a focus on privacy and security. The first product we write about is Owlbert, a learning app for children with a separate area for parents.

Each post is written for three readers at once: a parent deciding whether to trust an app, a reviewer checking our claims, and an engineer who wants the details. Where a post describes how data moves, it also says plainly what the design does not protect against.

Who writes it

Posts are written and reviewed by the Bare Metal Labs engineering team and published under that name.

What this site collects

Nothing. There are no analytics, no cookies, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts, fonts or images. Every page is a static file. The only thing stored in your browser is your light or dark theme choice, if you pick one, and it never leaves your device.

Corrections

If a post turns out to be wrong, we fix it and show an "updated" date on the post. Posts about security also show the date they were last reviewed.
